The solution was to merge all chunks into a single. There where VODs with minimal frame dropping that could not be converted. On different videos that is but the issues were there. This playlist was fed to ffmpeg which merged everything into an mp4. In 1.4.x TL created a local m3u8 playlist with all the downloaded chunks. You have to understand why the change happend.
